Whitley Bay Playhouse
The Whitley Bay Playhouse is a not for profit, receiving theatre company and a registered charity. The main objective of
the Playhouse is to present a quality mixed programme of professional and amateur productions to serve the people from North
Tyneside and other parts of the Northern Region and to actively take theatre into the local community with the Theatre in
the Community programme utilising sites in North Shields, Wallsend, Killingworth, Forest Hall and Percy Main making
theatre more accessible to all sectors of the community.

St. Mary's Lighthouse
Reached between the tides via a short causeway from the car park, St. Mary's has all the fascination of a miniature,
part-time island. The lighthouse, completed in 1898 on a hazardous coast for shipping, remained operational until 1984.

Angel of the North
The Angel of the North is a new landmark at the entrance to Tyneside. Its wide, open arms greet visitors as they reach
Gateshead, whether they come by road or rail. Its silhouette at the head of the Team Valley now rivals that of the famous Tyne Bridge.
The site, a former colliery pit head baths, has been re-claimed as a green landscape on the boundary of the Great North Forest.
